Italy - In the beginning of 2024, we travelled to Italy. Near Verona, northern Italy, we met some of our customers. From aviary systems to solutions in the egg room; they had all their own story to tell. We take you with us to our customers, to share their stories with you.

Passion and dedication in a family-owned Italian layer farm

We meet Soffia Rossi at Acienda Agricola Adami in Veneto, where she runs the business together with her parents. Just before the birds will arrive in a brand new layer house. A house for 30,000 hens equipped with the Vencomatic Nest, a well-considered choice. Sofia explains: 'We opted for a traditional floor house where we combine innovation with respect for animal welfare, according to the Italian regulations. Early in the planning phase, we visited the Netherlands to meet the people of Vencomatic Group and see the Vencomatic and Prinzen factories. This experience was vital for our decision, as we could observe their expertise firsthand.'

In the egg room, they have installed a Prinzen 70 packer along with a Palletiser 110. The packer ensures optimal and continuous egg collection combined with gentle egg handling and efficiency. The Palletiser improves the daily work by minimizing the physical effort for the operator. Rossi's family has fulfilled their dream of starting their own poultry farm and see the future positively. Sofia: 'We are happy and confident that we made the right decision.'

Giuseppe Bignotti from Fondo Perla shares his story as well. With rearing and egg production on different locations, he opted for systems where birds can follow their natural behaviour, complemented by advanced egg collection packing equipment.

Giuseppe states: 'A solid start is crucial for us as it yields excellent outcomes in all subsequent phases: optimal egg production, good feed intake, and low mortality rates. That's why we choose for the Jump Start on our rearing site. Here, the animals learn to navigate the system effectively, and in the next phase they have a familiar environment in the aviary house. This gives me a great peace of mind.'

In the egg room, Giuseppe chose for a complete Prinzen line with the Meggsius Select to handle 80,000 eggs during peak times. By including the Meggsius Select they significantly reduced labour hours, as the egg selection process is now fully automated. Just one operator can manage the entire egg selection and packing process.

Collecting eggs with a view in Italy

Tommaso Quaresima operates a farm in Italy that houses approximately 270,000 birds within aviary systems, yielding an average of 200,000 eggs daily. Given these substantial numbers, it's crucial for the processing of these eggs to be efficient and smooth. This is why they opted for Prinzen packers, a Pallet Loader, and Meggsius solutions. Tommaso shares his story from his egg room, boasting a stunning view!

Tommasso: “Two years ago, we made the decision to implement for the Meggsius Select. Manual egg selection is now a thing of the past thanks to automation, which is very nice. We also automate the entire process with the pallet loader and the Speedpack packing systems. All the machines are simple and good, not only efficient and reliable we also significantly reduce manual labour”
