Climate & emission

Creating a healthy indoor climate is hugely important for the birds and yourself. When the birds are healthy and feel good, you will see it back in their performance and therefore your results.

Benefits for both animal and farmer

Creating a well-balanced combination of air temperature and air quality in your layer house will pay off.

The importance of an optimal climate

Controlling the climate and temperature inside a layer house is crucial for the birds’ health. Imagine how you would feel in a damp or dusty environment. Hens need a well-balanced indoor condition with the right temperature and air quality. This isn’t just pleasant for the hens; it also benefits the people working in the layer house.

Hygiene is always important. Balanced ventilation and temperature ensure dry litter, preventing many health issues associated with wet litter. It also promotes natural behaviors like scratching, which makes the chickens more comfortable.

Regardless of the outside temperature, a good climate solution keeps the indoor environment comfortable year-round, preventing heat stress and discomfort from the cold. Chickens can show discomfort by huddling together without moving. Therefore, maintaining the right temperature is crucial for their comfort, allowing them to take and give space to each other.

How it works

Heat exchanger

The ECO Unit is an innovative solution for achieving optimal climate control in your poultry house. This heat exchanger with minimal ventilation uses the heat from the exhaust air to warm the incoming fresh air. The two airflows never mix, eliminating the risk of cold air being blown back in or cross-contamination. Instead, the incoming and outgoing air pass over each other in a series of thin tubes, allowing the outgoing air to warm the incoming air. This system typically recovers 80% of the heat from the expelled air, which would otherwise be lost.

Save feed

Did you know that hens are using feed to heat up not only themselves but in colder days even the entire house? Meaning, that when outside temperatures drop, the hens will consume more feed. A valuable fact to delve into, considering that up to 60% of every egg sold consists of feed costs. Reducing the feed consumption is even possible by on average 6g per bird per day.

Emission reduction

In many places, emissions are becoming increasingly important. While what goes into the poultry house is a priority, what comes out is equally important. The natural behaviors of chickens, such as scratching and dust bathing in litter, release ammonia into the air inside the poultry house. How can you remove up to 90% of these substances and ensure optimal air quality? The ECO Air Care system is the solution.
