Discover the guidelines for keeping birds in cage-free housing, based on field experience. Good housing systems and bird management techniques enable housing a large amount of cage-free and happy birds.
The biggest difference between cages and cage-free is the management. In cages the farmer controls the birds. In cage-free systems, the behaviour of the birds determines the management. You have to look at the needs of your flock and manage them depending on their needs.
Since our establishment 40 years ago we have gained knowledge with aviary systems. We are proud to help farmers from all over the world with the management of the chickens in our systems, to get the best possible results. Our poultry specialist Susanne Vonk wrote a book about 'going cage-free'.
