OMELETTE: first pilot farm launched

1 min read published on 4 February 2025

We are excited to announce the launch of the first pilot farm within the Interreg NWE OMELETTE Project! As part of this initiative, we are further developing the Meggsius Connect data platform, which provides a comprehensive overview of relevant data for each farm. This platform allows for the analysis of data from both current and previous flocks, enabling data-driven decisions to optimize hen health and welfare, ultimately enhancing hen longevity. The goal is to support farmers in making objective, evidence-based decisions.

As part of this project, five commercial farms will be connected to Meggsius Connect and closely monitored throughout one flock cycle. During farm visits, we will analyze the collected data together with the poultry farmers, and necessary actions will be implemented. Additionally, the use of Meggsius Connect will be evaluated, and adjustments will be made as needed.

We are pleased to announce that Vencomatic Group and Pehestat have successfully enlisted five enthusiastic poultry farmers, based in Belgium and the Netherlands, to join the pilot. With their help, we aim to further develop Meggsius Connect and promote data-driven decision-making on poultry farms, helping poultry farmers to even further optimize their operational business management.

The first two visits have already been completed at Stipkip farm in Uden, the Netherlands. 86,423 Laying hens are housed in four houses equipped with the Bolegg Terrace system. Egg collection is facilitated by the Meggsius Count & Control and Meggsius Select systems, ensuring extensive egg data collection. We believe Stipkip is the perfect farm for learning and development! From now until May 2025, the other farms will begin new flocks, and we are eager to see what insights we will gain.
