Switzerland - The Rossier project in Switzerland marks the fourth project collaboration between the Rossier family and partner Krieger AG. The history goes back to 1987 when grandfather Rossier established the first laying hen house for 2,000 layers. In 2003 and 2017, the farm was expanded by the next generation with houses for 6,000 and 8,000 laying hens. For the project in 2024, a new house for 10,000 layers, the third generation opted for the Bolegg Terrace aviary system along with egg handling using the Prinzen 70.
Stefan Käch, project manager at Krieger AG: “We are very proud that we consistently demonstrated to this family, through our products and services, that we are their ideal partner. Once again, they have chosen us for their new layer house. To maintain our status as the right partner for our customers, it's essential that we collaborate with dependable partners, and we have found that in the Vencomatic Group.”
The Bolegg Terrace is a compact and open aviary system. The layout of the Bolegg Terrace allows for wide and obstacle free corridors, as birds move vertically inside the system. Vertical bird movement is stimulated by the tree-structure and the smart positioning of perches in the system. The perches feature a mushroom shape offering the birds stability and a lot of benefits ensuring a comfortable rest, and facilitates a safe landing which is beneficial for animal health and welfare. Inside the house, a frameless conveyor belt is installed to efficiently transport manure, eliminating the need for a manure pit. The Prinzen 70 offers the Rossier family a optimal overview of the entire packing process, making egg collection both quick and efficient. This packer is capable of handling up to 18,000 eggs per hour.
Stefan Käch: "We extend our gratitude to the Rossier family for their years of trust and are delighted by the recognition of this project."
The Golden Egg Award is an integral part of Vencomatics Global dealer event, allowing each partner to submit a project they believe deserves the title of Project of the Year. The competition features three categories: layers, breeders, and broilers. A winner will be determined in each category, and from these three winners, an overall champion will be selected.
